Miriam Oney Fernandez was born in a small town Poza, Rica,  in Veracuz, Mexico. She is one of three children born to a very successful merchant of Mexican descent and a mother of a French descent. Miriam is the youngest child and was always extremely self-sufficient and industrious. As she became older, she was driven to get out on her own and start her own business.

Miriam came to the United States alone and landed in Las Vegas. Everything was new to her and her English was non-existent. She went about teaching herself the language, making a way for herself by putting herself through Community College of Southern Nevada. In 2000, she graduated with an AAS degree.

Miriam is currently enrolled in The Art Institute of Henderson Nevada, studying for an AAS culinary degree in Hotel, Food, and Casino Management.
